Six killed, one injured in Kapchorwa road accident

An early morning accident in Kapchorwa, eastern Uganda has claimed the lives of six people and left another in critical condition.

Sipi Region police spokesperson Fredmark Chesang says that the accident occurred around 5 am today Friday in Chepkwatit along the Kapchorwa-Mbale highway.

According to Chesang, the dead were travelling in an Isuzu Elf truck, registration number UAN 503H which was also ferrying matooke. According to an eyewitness, the vehicle lost control while sloping downhill before it veered off the road and overturned. Chesang says that they are still investigating the cause of the accident and establishing the identities of the deceased accident victims.

Their bodies are currently lying at Kapchorwa hospital mortuary waiting to be identified while the injured one is in Kapchorwa hospital receiving treatment.
